Letters to Santa

When I was young, we would venture to a far away land in Lubbock, Texas.  This adventure, the journey to Santaland, was full of intrigue and Christmas fun.

There is was that we wrote letters to Santa and THREW THEM INTO A HUGE FIRE PIT, to watch the smoke carry our requests through the air, like WonkaVision, to be reengineered at the North Pole.

What a wonderful night.

I often wonder who came up with this tradition, as if the letters were burned up by eager children before parents were able to have a glance, how would Santa be sure he had the right gifts to the home?

Well, since one my siblings who I was sure would have memories of this place came to visit with his family, I thought it might be fun to have a mini Santaland in our own home.

We wrote letters.

Started (many times) to make and keep a small fire going.

Did not take into account the crazy winds blowing the smoke in probably all directions but to the North Pole.

But, we managed to burn up some paper and be done with it.

Yay~

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a blur.  A fun, wild blur.

Some family was in town, after Evan's baptism.

I had surgery to remove and replace my port.

We made lots of good food and desserts, especially our traditional pumpkin pie, of which Kyle consumed 270%.

We had more family come in for a surprise visit!

And, the family who wasn't there was there in spirit.

Then, even MORE family came in!

Evan's Baptism

This was our first experience with a multiple child baptism.  I think it went pretty well, thankfully.

Evan chose Me and Kyle as witnesses. There was a mistake with the font not get filled, so Stephen had to baptism from his knees!  Evan  also had to get double-dunked because Stephen messed up a word.  Very fitting!

Those who stood in Evan's circle of confirmation were: Gramps, Grandpa, Uncle Bando, Brother Glazier, & Uncle Bryan.

We were so happy with visitors who came, especially Evan's teacher from school!

What a special day for this EIGHT YEAR OLD!!!

Party Time

I tried to convince Evan that Great Wolf Lodge should be enough for his birthday....again.  He was having none of it and wanted a friend party.

His big request was that Daddy made cookies for it.

I'm so glad this was easy/peasy and that he had a great time!

4th Graders to the Rescue

Cancer is back, worse than we thought.

But, my sweet son helped to collect cards from his entire 4th grade group of three classes.

Those kids helped to make my day so much better.

Fall in the Park

We are so lucky to live right by the action in the neighborhood.

Just a quick walk over, and we made it to the fall festival: horse rides, sliders, petting zoo, and more fun, right outside our door!
