When I was young, we would venture to a far away land in Lubbock, Texas. This adventure, the journey to Santaland, was full of intrigue and Christmas fun.
There is was that we wrote letters to Santa and THREW THEM INTO A HUGE FIRE PIT, to watch the smoke carry our requests through the air, like WonkaVision, to be reengineered at the North Pole.
What a wonderful night.
I often wonder who came up with this tradition, as if the letters were burned up by eager children before parents were able to have a glance, how would Santa be sure he had the right gifts to the home?
Well, since one my siblings who I was sure would have memories of this place came to visit with his family, I thought it might be fun to have a mini Santaland in our own home.
We wrote letters.
Started (many times) to make and keep a small fire going.
Did not take into account the crazy winds blowing the smoke in probably all directions but to the North Pole.
But, we managed to burn up some paper and be done with it.
Yay~
