17 Years

Stephen and I were actually able to have a nice date on our real anniversary.  We went to Christopher's and enjoyed a nice, fancy meal.  This was a much better visit than our Valentine's Day date, soon after finding cancer.  We laughed and planned and looked back on our 17 crazy years together.

Fire House Field Trip

Right back from our long weekend, I went into chemo.  Thankfully, some sweet friends offered to take the boys to play and on a field trip to a fire station.

How grateful I am for friends who care for my boys and save my sanity!

Memorial Day at the Lodge

For a spontaneous trip, this one was quite stress-free.  It's amazing how fun something like this can be when all of your children are old enough to swim and independent enough to go out on their own, with minimum supervision.
Evan was a little surprised when there was no birthday poster on our door, but we got some special golden wristbands for joining the 5 timers' club!

It's still one of our favorite places!

Dallas Fun

Since we were already in the Dallas area for the U2 concert, we decided to have a spontaneous weekend.  On Saturday, we made a visit to Ham Orchards for amazing peach pulled pork sandwiches and peach ice cream.

On Sunday, one of my Florida Peeps, who has since moved to Dallas, was FINALLY able to make her schedule work with mine so we could see each other....if only for an hour.  It was great to catch up!

After that, it was on to our one-night stay at Great Wolf Lodge!!!

U2

My big anniversary gift was tickets to the 30th anniversary Joshua Tree U2 concert!!!!!

Stephen asked one of the beer guys if he had gatorade.  The guy said only on the lower floors.  "But, wait!" he said.  "If you hold my beer, I'll run down and get one for you."  And right there, he put a full box of ice and beer on Stephen's lap and ran off!

A few minutes later, he returned, Gatorade in tow!!!  We tried to give him a great tip, and he didn't want to accept it.  This guy was amazing!!! We forced him to take the extra money.

The concert:

The Lumineers opened.

Here's the setlist:
  1. Sunday, Bloody Sunday
  2. NewYear's Day
  3. Bad (my favorite and the first time I've heard it live!!!)
  4. Pride (in the name of love)
  5. Where the Streets Have No Name
  6. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
  7. With or Without You
  8. Bullet the Blue Sky
  9. Running to Stand Still
  10. Red Hill Mining Town
  11. In God's Country
  12. Trip Through Your Wires
  13. One Tree Hill
  14. Exit
  15. Mothers of the Disappeared
Encore:
16.  Miss Sarajevo
17.  Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
18.  One

I loved when they called out "Side B" at the appropriate time to turn the original cassette!

Here's a few photos and video from the concert.

Even though the sound quality was a bit off inside the stadium, I loved this concert!!!

Last Day of 1st and 3rd

Another school year over for these boys.  A day of both excitement of summer and sadness at leaving behind great teachers and friends.

Arrow of Light

At the last pack meeting of the school year, the boys had a treat for the Arrow of Light ceremony.  Another local pack visited and put on the real deal.  It was pretty cool.

Kyle also got a few more belt loops to add to his already completed Bear Rank.

Field Day

This year's theme was Pirates, and the boys had fun dressing up.

They were also surprised that Evan and I attended their events!

Poor Po...This race didn't go his way.  His short, little legs had a hard time, and when a teacher tried to help him, things really got out of control!

Much improvement here.

He had fun, even though his class didn't win one tug-o-war!

Kyle's class, on the other hand, did very well.

His teacher especially loved when her class beat her husband's class!

Another field day down, and only a few more days until summer!
