Report & Resolutions

I like to have a little accountablility on my yearly goals, so every January, I report on the previous year's resolutions and make new ones for the coming year.

2014:

Stephen:
New Year's Resolutions are definitely NOT Stephen's thing, but he played along.

*I resolve to NOT buy a Nissan Rouge.  {This sprung from that awful commercial about the car driving on top of the train.}

Seriously, though....

*Update and organize iTunes, getting all the songs that were lost when the old computer crashed.
*be better on personal prayers.
*Work on not complaining.

Report: Shocking, I know, but Stephen DID NOT buy a Nissan Rouge.
He is still working on iTunes, which is an ongoing project.
The others are works in progress, too.

Mel's Resolutions:

*Complete the YW Personal Progress as a leader, which includes finishing the Book of Mormon, among other goals.
* Get caught up on photobooks.
*Organize my house---and keep it that way.
*Get 72 hr. kits done and work on food storage.

Report: I DID complete my YW Personal Progress, including reading the Book of Mormon.
I did not get caught up on photos, but did organize some pictures in the goal of doing books.
The house organization is an ongoing thing, but I did organinize TWO houses last year, the old one AND the new one.
The 72-hour kits are DONE!  Food storage is ongoing.

Kyle's Resolutions:
*Help mom when she's sick.
*Be nice to Ryan and Evan.
*Listen to Daddy.
*Keep telling the truth.

{Mom has added to Kyle's list---learn to tie shoes and ride a bike.}

Report: Kyle was a big help to me when I was sick.  He tries to be nice, listen, and tell the truth.  After a few experiences with the consequences of lying, he's doing much better on that.

He learned to tie his shoes, but is still working on the bike riding.

Ryan's Resolutions:
*I am not going to hit my brothers.

{Mom has added to his list--play a sport.}

Report: Well, the hitting thing happens around here almost everyday.  But, Ryan did play soccer for the first time and is going to play again this year.

Evan's Resolutions:
*Play with Ry-Ry, Ty {Kyle}, Dada, and Mama.
*Eat cookies.  {When Evan "says" the word "cookies," he actually clicks his tongue 2 times, like he's from some aboriginal tribe, or something.  It's hilarious.

Report: Evan played quite a bit with all of us AND ate lots of cookies!!!

2015:

This year, we filled out our own reports from 2014 and made some specific goals for 2015.

Stephen:
lose weight
not complain
stop drinking soda

Melodee:
visit 3 new places
learn to do vinyl on my Cricut
read 1 book a month
lose 20 lbs.
work out 4 times per week
send bday cards by the end of the month

Kyle:
taking my training wheels off
reading to level W
being nice

Ryan:
learn to read
tie my shoes

Evan:
learn letters
stay dry at night
do jobs

I think we have some great goals for the year and will continue to add/change the ways that we reach them as the months go on.  I'm looking forward to a great 2015!

100th Day of School

Kyle had such a fun time for the 100th day at school yesterday!  They made crowns, fruit loop necklaces, and did activities in 10 minute increments throughout the day until they'd reached 100 minutes. Also, each student was able to bring 100 things of their choice. Kyle wanted to bring 100 skylanders. That wasn't happening. We compromised on bringing 100 pictures of skylanders, which was a brilliant idea until the printer ran out of black ink and refused to print at.all until the cartridge was replaced. I had colors, but no black. And it was bedtime. So, we made due and used the pictures we had and made a list of names up to 100. It worked because his friends "loved it."

Here's my 1st grader, 100 days smarter.

Mr. Peabody

My little buddy.

He runs errands with me when his brothers are at school, and he loves bringing little treasures along. On this day, it was a few snacks, some rocks, and "mr tee-body" glasses.

Monkey Po

He did it!!

Kyle has been climbing the walls forever, but our little po finally figured it out, too! I remember being able to do this!

No More Nursery!

January 4, 2015: First Sunday of the New Year

We no longer have any children in the nursery class at church!  Our Baby Evan entered the grown up Primary and is now a SUNBEAM!!!!

 In other news, Kyle moved up to Senior Primary, and is preparing for baptism this year!

Evan really liked his time in the Big Boys' class.  They learned about how they are children of God.  He was singing "I Am a Child of God" all day.  {That, and "Jingle Bells."}

2015 is going to be great!
