Halloween

This year's them was the Teen Titans.  Raven, Starfire, Robin, Beast Boy, and Cyborg were ready for some trick-or-treating!

They've been waiting to go to this house all month! 

Look how full their buckets are after only going down both sides OF OUR CUL-DE-SAC!!!  Trick-or treating doesn't take very long in our neighborhood!

Carving Pumpkins

It's never too late to carve pumpkins for Halloween.  In Texas there is DEFINITELY too EARLY, as the heat causes the carved pumpkins to become moldy before they can be displayed for trick-or-treating.  We were able to carve our gourds as soon as the boys got home from school on Halloween, so we could light them up right before heading out in the neighborhood.  

The boys all opened their own pumpkins:

Then it was time to scrape out the insides.

Here's our finished products: Donald Duck, Pluto, and Kyle's jack-o-lantern.  (He was excited that I let him carve this one completely on his own!)

October Dress-Up

Kyle had a special Halloween soccer this year.  They dressed up and played against the girl's section of his soccer club.  He did well and beat those girls, but he didn't win a prize for the best costume.

The boys had Book Character Day and Dinosaur Day at school on Halloween.  (I guess the school figured that Halloween was going to be a blown off day, anyway, so why not make the most out of it?)

Skylander and  Mario:

 Evan had a Halloween party---no costumes--but he got this amazing blue blow-pop!

We like to extend the Halloween activities as long as possible!

Boofest

 My cancer support group, Beyond Boobs!, had the opportunity to set up and run a table at the community Boo Fest this year.  This was just after my surgery, but I had committed before that.  I made an attempt to at least show up.

Thankfully, Stephen was able to come along, so we could bring the boys and let them check out the activities.  

They loved bobbing for apples, but hated the apples! 

And, you have to have bouncy toys!!!  These are some of their favorites!  

This was a fun way to get in the Halloween mood and help the community!

Farm Patch Pumpkin Patch

It's still too hot to be time to Halloween.  I'm not feeling it this year, and I ALWAYS feel Halloween!!

To try to get in the mood, we made our annual trip to the Farm Patch to visit the pumpkin patch for fun and finding our pumpkins.  

They had a lot of new attractions this year, which the boys picked up on right away!

The rulers were repeats, and the boys couldn't wait to see how much they've grown from last year!

New animals, too.  The pigs were a fan favorite, as they ate right out of our hands. 

After checking out a few things, the boys got busy planning obstacle courses and races.  I basically had to force them to stop to pick pumpkins and take pictures. 

Ryan slipped on a pumpkin right before this, so he wasn't happy at all.  

Kyle kept looking and looking for a perfect pumpkin, but the ones he liked were all out of his budget.  

Finally!

Evan found one deep in the pile.  

After we took on more picture, Kyle found another favorite.  

So did Evan.  Really?!?  How hard is it to pick??

Then, we did our traditional after school snack from the fresh fruits and veggies.  Kyle and Evan both tried a golden kiwi, and Ryan got some blackberries.  Stephen and I enjoyed an amazing pineapple!  (Plus, while we were in line, a sweet man who worked there gave out free bananas.  The boys COULD NOT BELIEVE it!!!)

Fall is now at our house, even if it's still in the upper 80's outside.  Welcome to October in Texas!!!
