Crazy Hair (Head) Day

The kids had crazy hair day at school.  {Kyle didn't really feel into it.}

Stephen and I had crazy head day while shopping for some birthday presents for Evan.

Pumpkin Carving

We just squeezed this tradition in before the big day!  Not everyone LOVES it, but mainly that's just a few of my boys who don't want to work for it or touch the goop.  The faces were amazing this year!

Primary Program 2018

It's Kyle's last one.  He's going to be graduating from Primary next summer when he turns 12.  How is this happening already???

This is the last time all three boys will perform together.  Sniff, sniff.

It's funny to me that Evan's part is about telling the truth, something he needs MUCH work on.

Breast Cancer Dancers

One of my fellow breast cancer survivors in my support group from College Station has a daughter named Meggie who is a dancer.  She came up with this idea to perform interpretive dances for her mother as well as some other survivors, and I was one of those featured for a performance.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the show in College Station, but Meggie sent me a preview from the company's practices.

For the actual performance, Meggie asked me for a description to include in the program:

Melodee Cooper is a Texan by birth, an Aggie by choice, the wife of a fellow Aggie, and a mother of three young boys, through the blessings of time, modern science, and Divine Intervention.  She has taught both 5th and 6th math and science, and is now able to be a stay-at-home mom, an author and blogger, an amateur decorator, a crafter, and a holiday enthusiast.  She was first diagnosed with Stage 2B breast cancer in January, 2013 and battled through it with chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy + reconstruction.  Two months after her one-year remission date (July 2015), cancer returned, this time as Stage IV breast cancer (bone metastases.)  Radiation + more chemo led to remission, again, but it was short-lived.  Tumors filled her brain in January 2017.  Melodee underwent full-brain radiation, even though she was told she would only have 6-12 months to live.  Prayers + modern medicine + miracles cleared the tumors from her brain, and she is back in remission, almost two years later!  Melodee continues to battle Stage IV cancer while making memories with her family, remaining optimistic about reaching goals, and displaying faith and gratitude for the many blessings in her life.

I wish I could've seen it live!  I'm supposed to be receiving some videos from the actual performance soon.

Trunk or Treat

The only thing I didn't like about Trunk or Treat this year was that Stephen wasn't there.

We managed.

Voting

I was able to {barely} make it for early voting this year.  The lines were LONG, and the machines for checking people in went down to only one working one.  Dayton wanted to come with me, but we didn't bring his coat.  I gave up mine for the little guy, who waited very patiently {and got lots of compliments....along with my awesome teal purse!}

Boys + Good School Things

I think it's nice when kids care about their classmates.

Our school does things like have classroom pow-wows where they can share feelings and learn to express frustrations or ask for forgiveness and apologize.

They also have different exercises with complimenting fellow students.

Here's a few examples through our boys' eyes.

Pumpkin Patch

Stephen got off early one afternoon, so we made our way over to the local pumpkin patch.

The funniest point of the afternoon was when someone called out, "Hay Ride leaving in 5 minutes!"
Daryton took off running, following lots of other younger kids.  "Yay!!! Hay Ride!!!!"

We had to call him back when that hay ride session filled up.
We did a few other things until the next one.

Then, it was finally hay ride time!

With that, we could check off another October tradition.
