Last Day of School 2018

2017-2018 was a great year.  We were sad that it came to a close.
The ending was especially hard, as we were saying goodbye to this school family that we had been with for 4 years!  (It was also especially hard for Kyle and me, due to a bunch of hullaballoo with Mrs. Henry at the end and she being gone with little explanation.)

There is nothing like the last day of school, though!

Bye, Mrs. Simmons

So long, Mrs. Sullivan!

We love her so much!

Thank you, Mrs. Bingaman!

We will miss you, Mrs. Murphy.  GT is amazing!!!

We were able to get one more photo with Mrs. Simpson, who HAD to have glasses on, so we wouldn't see her cry.  I'm SO grateful for the special place she has in her heart for Evan and for our family.

That's it!  School's Out for SUMMER!!!!

Last Day of Gymnastics

I think Little Po has found his calling in gymnastics.  It was sad to say goodbye to people and coaches we've grown to know over the years!

End of Year Kinder Program

One of the biggest shows of the year is the Kindergarten Program.  At the end of the year, they celebrate their "graduation" with song and dance.  Evan tried to play it cool when he saw me waiting for him.

He had been practicing for weeks and was ready!

Stephen wasn't able to attend, due to work....of course..., but I came early to get a good seat to make sure I could film it for him.

Here's just a few of Evan's favorites:

What a great school year Evan has had!

Memorial Day Weekend

We took a lovely trip up to Dallas for an preview to summer hoorah!

Favorites on the list included watching SOLO!

We ate at Babe's, and actually had the worst experience ever there.  It was made a little better after I talked to a manager.  (Why should I pay for a "vegetable plate" when none of the vegetables were ready with the meat?  Sorry your kitchen broke down.)

The kids had fun posing while we were taking care of the $.

There was lots of dancing and playing with cousins.

There were SOOOOO many plays.  We kept trying to get them to do a few more dress rehearsals before putting on the plays, but I guess they've got work to do.  I'm glad they had fun writing and performing.  (And Kyle was nice enough to hold the cue cards, which they relied too much on!)

All this creativity for the kids left Julia and I a little time to get creative, too!

We turned an old bookshelf into amazing art storage!

We also had a wonderful beach day!

I did have a little mishap.  When we were packing up to leave, I twisted my foot on a step out front and fell.  I was pretty scraped and bruised, but nothing more, thankfully!

What a fun precursor to moving to Frisco at the end of the summer!

End of School Year Awards

The end of the school year often means awards for various accomplishments.

Kyle and Ryan both received the Golden Shoe Award, meaning their running in PE qualified them for the highest level.

Kyle got a Presidential Award....for grades, I think?  (Maybe it was for the STAAR test???)
(Ryan probably received this, too, but I have no idea!)

Kyle also got to bang the gong for the recorder challenge.  He made a goal this year to pass off ALL of the songs for the recorder, as last year he was only ONE away from completion.  I'm happy to say that he met his goal!

Coming to the end of school can be bittersweet.  This was the day we told all our favorite people at Greens Prairie that we were moving!  Mrs. Sullivan was especially sad, as it had been our goal for all three Cooper boys to be in her amazing class.  I was also touched by Mrs. Simpson's reaction: "I'm not crying; you're crying!!!"  She has been the best thing for Evan this year.  We will greatly miss all the teachers and staff who have been part of our Mustang life.

Challenge Complete!

We were challenged at the beginning of the year to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the school year, along with Seminary students.  Since our entire family had begun the book at the beginning of the school year, we kept going.

And, WE FINISHED!!!
It feels pretty good to reach this goal, especially with all of our schedules having to work together.  Go, Team Cooper!

Superhero Field Day

This year's Field Day these was "Superheroes!"

We had two Spidermen and a Captain America from our family.

A fun time was had by all---even in the HEAT!!!

The best part---popsicles!

Ryan Field Trip

Ryan FINALLY got to go on his field trip to the George Bush Library!

I enjoyed hearing about their class visiting Mrs. Bush's grave site, as that was new to the museum.

Field trips rule!
